| Digital Dish Diva says: Welcome to MSN Live! We are proud to welcome back, Greg Grunberg to MSN Live!
Greg Grunberg says: I'm fine! Having a great time! How are you? Digital Dish Diva says: Greg, great to see you back! Let's talk about the new storyline. Sean is sick. Tell us more. Greg Grunberg says: Yes, Sean has Testicular cancer and it's tough because it's great to play this stretching role but play it amusing because it's such a serious subject. Digital Dish Diva says: JermynSt Asks: Sean has mostly been a comical character but now with his possible illness, he takes on a serious side. Do you find funny Sean or serious Sean harder to play? Greg Grunberg says: That's a good question. I actually think he's always funny Sean and it's always harder to play comedy for most actors but I don't think it's hard to play comedy, but I do find it hard to play the balance. For me as an actor, it's great! It's something people care about and will open my character more. Digital Dish Diva says: Guest_bee Asks: Do you feel the show is doing a good job of handling Sean's health scare storyline? Greg Grunberg says: Oh yes! Absolutely! As serious subject as it is, as with happened with Tom Green, getting out there and letting people know what was going on with him and at the same time hilarious!! This is about the same but more serious and dealing with a relationship like with Sean and Meghan. Digital Dish Diva says: Sniglet_FFF Asks: Will Sean be "docuventing" his health problem ala Tom Green? Greg Grunberg says: Great question! Tonight Sean, there is some documenting going on a la Tyra Banks, as far as the cancer goes, I do turn the camera on myself to make a living will and I hope it's as moving as it was to do. Digital Dish Diva says: Guest_Grace Says: Greg, what's the scoop on the network picking up the second half of the season? Greg Grunberg says: The scoop, they have more time till they have to decide. The ratings are better than even the first season so we're doing incredibly well. The response from the fans have been tremendous. The first year everyone loved it and the second year they were lost in repeats, and this year with no repeats has really paid off. People come up to me and let me know they are connecting with the show better than ever before. All we can do is make the best show possible. Digital Dish Diva says: Guest_bee Asks: Will Sean be inventing anything this season or are his invention days over? Greg Grunberg says: Sean is definitely going to be inventing! Sean comes up with a creative Christmas business so look for that. One thing that he creates is flavored pen caps. Although I think Smoothaise has seen it's day. Digital Dish Diva says: What was Smoothaise made from again? Greg Grunberg says: It's sort of a sauce, and I don't have any idea what they put in it, it always looked gross to me, but I played it like it was delicious. Also we use Docuventary where the students can vent and that really helps us with the story line and most of the footage, I film. I just love it! It's so much fun. Digital Dish Diva says: Sniglet_FFF Asks: Whose place is bigger, Sean's loft or the new on-campus apartment where Felicity, Elena, Meghan and Molly are living in now? And how did they ever get such spacious digs? Greg Grunberg says: What's funny is that they always talk about how unrealistic this is, but we make reference to it when Felicity first sees it she says it's the largest on campus dorm and everyone wants it. She doesn't know how she got it. The girl's apartment is 4 times as big as the loft, but it's a great place to shoot it. Digital Dish Diva says: SophiaBaBy Says: How did you feel about all the support you received when the show was near to be cancelled? Greg Grunberg says: It was tremendous! I actually was so happy about it that I devoted a lot of time to being a part of it. The fans had put so much into it, I went to some of the rallies and went online with savefelicity.com and did some radio interviews. For those of you that don't think your voice make a difference, they really do and thank you thank you! Digital Dish Diva says: SlimDREady Says: What kind of stresses do you have and how do you overcome them while shooting? Digital Dish Diva says: Guest_Irisgoo Asks: What number episode are you currently filming? Greg Grunberg says: Right now we're filming episode 11 and then we have 2 more and then we're waiting until they pick up the 'back 9' to complete the season. And I'm so stressed out about it, that's my stress. Digital Dish Diva says: mtysticalgal Asks: What's your favorite part about being on the show? Greg Grunberg says: My favorite part is the part of my character that is a mentor, I get to be vulnerable and act on impulse, I wear my emotions on my sleeve. Also Ben and Richard look up to Sean in business and I get to be the mentor in some respect and I love that. Digital Dish Diva says: nlove_1 Says: Greg, what do you think is the best part of the show? Greg Grunberg says: My favorite part of being on the show is working with Amanda Foreman who plays Meghan, she's incredibly talented. The best part of the show is Sean. Digital Dish Diva says: Guest_bee Asks: Sean and Meghan are incredible together. Did Meghan and Sean's pairing surprise you? Greg Grunberg says: It surprised me, I think it surprised everyone, but more than anything it's surprised us. I've known Amanda for a long time and when we got on this show it was great to be working with an old friend. And now to be making out, it's great! And when it happened both of our characters were in a really depressed point, and it came together and I think it was a great pair. Digital Dish Diva says: sosmooth says: Greg, you made a comment once about Speedy's eating habits which I found very funny, care to elaborate? Greg Grunberg says: He's one of those guys that if he could pull up a chair to the buffet he would. That's where he would want to sit. He doesn't eat junk all day long, but when he eats, he inhales his food. And I'm incredibly jealous because I'm always watching what I eat and watching my weight and he doesn't have that problem. Digital Dish Diva says: Sweetpea1654 Asks: Are there any secrets that you want to tell us about the upcoming shows? Greg Grunberg says: Yes, I think it's interesting how Sean deals with facing cancer and it's something a lot of people go through, I don't want to give it away. Also the Richard character, everyone thinks he's gay, and the way they resolve that, you'll never forget it! It's unexpected and great! Digital Dish Diva says: graceK says: Any funny fan moments? Greg Grunberg says: Yes. I was at Sea World with my family on the people-mover going through the shark tank and they have these TV monitors so you can see yourself on the TV as you're moving along. These girls are in front of us looking at the monitor and they say "Look, Felicity is on TV" and then she turned around and scared the sharks! I'm not kidding, they screamed so loud! They ended up being so sweet, and it was so funny that happened in the shark tank. Also at Halloween, I got mobbed, there were some people that mobbed me and my son didn't want anything to do with it. (laughs) Digital Dish Diva says: mtysticalgal Asks: What's your favorite episode of Felicity? Greg Grunberg says: It has to be tonight's episode BY FAR! Tonight is one of the best we've done so far. We balance comedy, drama and the end is so shocking, it's great! Digital Dish Diva says: laabee1 Asks: Hey Greg, are you ever gonna find out what is in Meghan's box? Greg Grunberg says: Well they sort of answer that question in the Twilight Zone episode. Digital Dish Diva says: Is there anything really in that box? Greg Grunberg says: I bet there's a lot of fetish clothing. That is something I would love to leak, Meghan takes Sean to a fetish ball. And it's so great to see. Digital Dish Diva says: Manolis_Varnasactor1 Asks: What do you think of Felicity's soundtrack. I think it's awesome. Greg Grunberg says: I think they're coming out with another one this year. One thing I think they do a great job in is picking the music and giving credit at the end of the show. I just found out they don't get anything for that, they don't get credit, and the people who play this music get the money and the WB just does this for the fans so they know where the music is coming from. Digital Dish Diva says: Let's talk about some of your other projects. What else are you doing? Greg Grunberg says: I just finished a film called The Medicine Show about a comedy writer that gets cancer. Another cancer story line, I know. (laughs) It's a true story. It's with Jonathan Silverman, and I'm reading some films I'm interested in that will hopefully start filming in January. But for now I'm just concentrating on the show right now. Digital Dish Diva says: One last question from mtysticalgal Says: Have any things funny happened on the set of Felicity? Digital Dish Diva says: Or has it been more serious due to the cancer storyline? Greg Grunberg says: The only way that I can work is to goof around, if we were serious all the time, we'd never survive. We always joke on the set. Let's just say the remote control fart machine on the set. We've had to change the batteries about six times. Digital Dish Diva says: Greg, it's always a pleasure to have you as a guest on MSN Live. Continue the great work on Felicity. Greg Grunberg says: Enjoy tonight's episode! Thank you for the e-mails and fan letters that I got this week in response to how people are identifying with my character and how he's dealing with cancer. Keep watching the show and keep enjoying it! |
