Dear Jean: Gomez is one of my favorites as well. Last year alone, besides playing the quirky flamboyant manager of New York's famous Dean & Deluca deli on Felicity, he was a recurring regular on Norm. And he did that memorable episode of The Drew Carey Show, in which he popped up wearing a towel - and nothing else. Gomez, who has been married for seven years to Second City actress Nia Vardalos, says, "I can't get over the fact we're really working." He certainly never dreamed he would find such success when he started out in Manhattan, the son of an artist father from Puerto Rico and a dancer from the Bronx. He went into restaurant management in New York City, then later headed to Chicago, where he spent seven years with the Second City troupe. Besides the shows mentioned above, he has guested on Murphy Brown, Melrose Place, Married... with Children, Smart Guy, The Untouchables and had a recurring role on Missing Persons. His film credits include EdTV, The Big Tease, Till There Was You, Excessive Force and Rookie of the Year. |
